Liverpool Trip- Walker Gallery

Artists from the Liverpool trip

Gillian Ayres ‘Aeolus’- walker gallery, mark making painting
Aeolus by Gillian Ayres links closely to our current exploration of mark making in painting. She has refined techniques that I have previously experimented with, such as the use of layering paint on more paint. I love the texture she creates from the heavy layers of paint used, this was a suggestion from improvement that I received in the group crit and can now relate this to Ayres work. These abstract paintings are very free and expressive.

Fiona Ray- walker gallery, mark making painting
Paul Jenkins- walker, acrylic with appearance of ink dripping
Fernando Zobel- walker, oil painting similar to above
Claude Heath- walker, oil paint chalk and gesso, circular scribbles
